International Stakeholder Event, Európa Pont, Budapest, 15 April 2026

The Stakeholder Event brought together educators, policymakers, and experts to reflect on the project’s results and exchange knowledge on countering Holocaust distortion and disinformation. It created an important space for dialogue between research, education, and policy, focusing on the growing challenges posed by Holocaust distortion and antisemitism in both digital and public spheres. Participants explored key insights into contemporary forms of distortion, reviewed the research findings and educational tools developed within DECONSTRUCT, discussed international and local good practices, and shared practical classroom experiences. A central message that emerged from the event was the vital role of education and media literacy in fostering critical thinking, addressing distortion, and strengthening democratic resilience.

Book Launch: Kamarád 1943-1944

On October 30, Nelson Bernardo and Luísa Godinho (Memoshoá) presented the book Kamarád – 1943-1944 at the Templo da Poesia in Oeiras. Produced by students from the Quinta do Marquês Secondary School as part of a DAC (Curricular Autonomy Domain) project, this interdisciplinary work aimed to recreate an issue of Kamarád magazine, one of many children’s and youth magazines produced by children in the Theresienstadt ghetto, created in 1941 by the Nazis. Through these magazines, children and young people found a form of resistance and resilience in writing and drawing. The final result of this work was published in a book with the support of the Oeiras City Council. An ebook was also created during the process.
